Riding lessons
Each camper will participate in a daily English riding lesson. The lessons are designed to help the campers build confidence and develop a balanced seat which in turn helps them have better control of the horse and become stronger riders. Lessons are conducted in a safe and fun manner and are focused on good horsemanship. All levels of riders are welcome.
Stable Management/Theory Classes
In these classes children will learn about topics such as basic veterinary care, conformation, breeds and colors, hoof care, tack, braiding, course design, bathing, and show preparation. These educational classes offer lots of hands-on practice!
Daily Care of the Horses
Campers will be involved in the daily care of the horses and will learn how to properly feed, water, groom, clean and health check the horses. This is a wonderful opportunity for children who simply love being around horses and also for children who plan to have their own horse someday!
Horscery
"Horscery" will be offered with instructor Calloway MCloud as a unique part of the daily activities. The Horscery part of the camp does not involve riding, halters, lead ropes, bits or tack of any kind. Each child will "partner" with a free horse for the week, and learn to "think like a horse" as they attempt to teach their horse to do something new. Children will learn, hands on, the basics of clicker training and the principles of positive reinforcement. The atmosphere here is fun, adventurous, and creative!
A Fun Activity
There will be a different activity everyday for the children to participate in that involves working with or riding the horses. These activities will include topics such as bareback riding, lunge lessons, games on horseback, western riding, and trail riding.
